Waterpik Flosser and Sonic Toothbrush with Travel Case

I know that flossing is important, but if I’m in a hurry it’s something that always gets forgotten. It’s funny, because I always find time to brush my teeth, but that extra few seconds to floss can seem like an eternity. Then I got to thinking that doing half the job wasn’t doing me much good. It’s like writing half this article and then forgetting to write a conclusion – it’s doubtful that anybody would want to read it. That might seem like an extreme analogy, but I believe it’s appropriate.

Fortunately, there’s actually a product designed to address both areas of teeth and gum cleaning. The Waterpik Complete Care Water Flosser and Sonic Toothbrush not only covers both your flossing and brushing needs, it does it at a pretty decent price. There are electric toothbrushes on the market that sell for close to $200 and they don’t come with any kind of floss capability. When you look at it like that, this product seems like a great deal. It usually reatils for less than $75.

Hydraulic Power

Before we get into looking at how the electric toothbrush portion of this product works, we should probably touch briefly on its flossing capabilities. After all, buying a WaterPik and an electric toothbrush in one package is a unique proposition. There aren’t a lot of devices like it on the market, but you have to wonder why that is. Clearly, these are two products that go together well.

WaterPik is famous for its hydraulic flossing equipment and in this area the device does not disappoint. It uses a combination of water pressure and pulsing jets to reach between your teeth and get at those hard to reach areas. Customers who have used this product have almost uniformly praised this part of its capabilities. A cool thing you can do with this, as suggested by the manufacturer, is to add warm water to it if you have sensitive teeth, rather than using the cold water that comes out of your tap. They also recommend using mouthwash mixed in with the water as well, for added tooth-cleaning capabilities.

Sonic Brush

The electric toothbrush portion of this product relies on sonic technology to clean your teeth. A sonic toothbrush creates a vibration that works the plaque loose from your teeth, in addition to the conventional scrubbing aspect of tooth cleaning. When you combine this scrubbing action, sonic cleaning, and WaterPik technology in one overall package, you get a product that can give you the cleanest and healthiest teeth you’ve ever had in your life.

Traditional electric toothbrushes use a rotary cleaning technology that scrubs the brush over your teeth. While these work quite well, sonic vibration technology, such as brushes like this one from WaterPik provide, gives you a different level of clean. It’s amazing that you can buy both of these products in one device and at a very reasonable price.

Bonus Features

Finding a product that offers both flossing and brushing capabilities is impressive in and of itself, but the folks at WaterPik also provide you with some extra features in this package. The sonic toothbrush comes with two replacement brush heads as well, so it will be quite a while before you have to go shopping for replacements. It comes with a travel case; a nice hard plastic design that’s compact enough to fit in your pocket. It’s not likely that you’ll go traveling with the WaterPik portion, but you can easily take the toothbrush with you wherever you go.

Now for the Downside

As you’re probably aware, WaterPik is better known for its flossing machines and not for its electric toothbrushes. That reputation is well-deserved, as they do offer the best home flossing machines on the market. But their sonic toothbrush is certainly not in the same league. This brush only has two speeds, high and low, so it can’t really compete with some of the higher-end electric toothbrushes, which come with five or six different modes depending on what you’re using them for and how sensitive your teeth are.

Some customers also complain that the bristles on the brush are a little on the soft side, although this may just come down to personal preference. The bigger concern I had with the bristles is that they tend to wear easily, so it’s a good thing this brush comes with two replacement heads – you’re probably going to go through them fairly quickly.

A Great Overall Package

While I do have some reservations about this product I think overall the idea of making one purchase that can address both my flossing needs and my brushing needs is a great idea. I’m quite impressed with the sonic style of brush, as everything I’ve read about sonic vibration being used in toothbrushes has been positive.
